WHY AN ACTING CLASS ON SKID ROW
Because theatre opens the door to a new world of self discovery, builds community and reveals new abilities. Through the works of celebrated playwrights and by writing their own performance pieces, our students widen their view of the human experience as they expand their view of themselves.

Acting also yields practical skills like enhanced oral communication, problem solving and teamwork. It improves vocabulary, confidence and provides a selfaffirming experience that lasts long after the final round of applause.

The 2009 Theatre classes are in partnership with Company of Angels Theatre ­ the oldest non-profit professional theatre in Los  Angeles. Founded in 1959, the original company featured legendary actors including Richard Chamberlain, Leonard Nimoy and Vic Morrow. Along the way, the company has received almost every Los  Angeles theatrical award, including The LA Drama Critics Circle Award, the DramaLogue Award, the LA Weekly Award, and the Ovation Award.
